The national Airline of Turkey has been voted the Best Airline in Europe for the second year in a row at the Skytrax World Airline Awards which surveys more than 18 million airline passengers in more than 100 countries.
Turkish Airlines (THY) also come away with Best Airline in Southern Europe and Best Premium Economy Class Airline Seat awards.
The General Manager of Turkish Airlines said at the awards: “THY left behind Lufthansa and Swiss as direct competitors to become Europe's best airline once again. We now aim to be the world’s best.”
Turkish Airlines currently operates out of Istanbul as its major hub and flies to over 200 domestic and international destinations currently. In the first half of 2012, Turkish Airlines saw passenger numbers grow in excess of 20 percent over the first half of 2011 – further strengthening Turkish Airlines grip as the best airline in Europe.
