This market was built in the seventeenth century as an extension to Yeni Camii (New Mosque). It was famed as a spice market and pharmacy, selling herbs and spices from the Orient and even further afield. Now, you can find all manner of goods, and at prices lower than the Grand Bazaar. It's well worth a wander.
The bazaar (also known as the Spice Bazaar) is located in an 'L' shaped building containing 88 rooms. You'll be amazed at the wide range of spices, fruit, nuts, honey and other goods from around the Aegean.
This huge bazaar is located in Fatih, in the Eminonu district of Istanbul.
