One of Istanbul's most well known and best loved Nargile houses is the Corlulu Ali Pasha Medresesi.
Built in 1709, Ali Pasha is steeped in history and atmosphere. Great hanging rugs and a large glass wall displaying all manner of water pipes provides the perfect setting for a glass of tea on one of the many comfortable sofas. It's particularly pleasant in the evenings.
If you're walking from Sultanahmet to Beyazit Square, it's on the right side of the tramway, just before the covered bazaar.
The nargile experience in Istanbul is something you must try. Lie back on the cushions and let the weariness leave your body as you sample nargiles in a bewildering array of flavours, from apple to cherry to cola. The smoke passes through the water before reaching your lungs, making it cool and smooth.
