The Antalya region is gearing up for a summer of sunshine and culture.
Each year, Antalya hosts the Aspendos International Ballet and Opera Festival, which is held in the world"s best-preserved Roman theatre, 40 kilometres from Antalya City in the site of the ancient city of Aspendos.
Anyone seeking a sun-filled holiday around this time may wish to combine a spell of lounging in the sunshine with an evening of theatre, music or dance at one of the festival’s various outdoor concerts.
Aspendos Theatre was built in the second century during the reign of Marcus Aurelius, and was dedicated to the gods. It held around 12,000 people.
Today, the site is in modern-day Belkis, and the festival has been running since 1994. The event takes place in June and early July, and attracts performers and audiences from around the world with productions such as The Magic Flute, Aida and Manon.
The Antalya region is one of Turkey’s main holiday resorts and has so much to offer travellers of all kinds. There are ruins, beautiful beaches, mountains and top restaurants.
Antalya property is also becoming highly sought after. Property in Kalkan, Side, Belek and Alanya is poised to rise in value over the next few years.
