Izmir is a city rich with culture and history, boasting 3500 years of urban development. It is the third largest city in Turkey and boasts the second largest port after Istanbul.

Izmir is widely regarded as one of the most progressive Turkish cities in terms of its values, lifestyle, and dynamism and gender roles. Izmir's youth hold a strong position in the city, and its workforce is full of young up-and-comers.

Strolling through the city streets, you'll discover palm-lined promenades and green parks set around a circular bay. The city is also known for its international trade fair, which attracts around a million people each year.

Adnan Menderes Airport serves many UK cities with direct flights, but during winter months you may have to fly via Istanbul.

There is much to do in this ancient city - experience culture, history and modern life rolled into one. There are a number of schools and hospitals within easy reach, and the airport is about fifteen kilometres away. If you love your city breaks, Izmir City may be a good spot for a holiday home. However, bear in mind there are no beaches in the city.

As for an investment property, Izmir's up-and-coming youth population mean your investment should see favourable returns. There is high rental potential here, too, once again to these young professionals.
