Gocek guide for lifestyle, entertainment and attractions

Gocek islands - boaters paradise

Gocek Summary
Gocek is an upmarket, sophisticated yacht town. It is home to four marinas and one boat yard, which attracts keen yachtsmen. The town's clear blue waters, pine forests and stunning beaches lend it a rare natural beauty.

Gocek's locals once worked on farms, in paper factories and in the mines - which closed a long time ago. Nowadays, it's a liberal town with friendly, open-minded people. Women are very active in the community and there are many women's rights groups.

Gocek combines tranquility with top facilities, making it a popular place for a holiday. Multi-storey properties are not permitted here as the area is protected under environmental law.
There are talks of a fifth yacht marina opening, as well as second boat yard.

Generally, you will find mature expats, keen yachtsmen, Turkish retirees or educated professionals seeking a calm haven.

Holiday Homes in Gocek
Rating: 8/10

Investment Property in Gocek
Rating: 9/10

Permanent Homes in Gocek
Rating: 7/10

Upmarket Gocek boasts four marinas and a boat yard, making it increasingly popular with yachties, who are flocking in great numbers to experience the top facilities and clear coastal waters. The increasing numbers of yachties is expected to boost the price of marina property in Gocek.

Gocek also has building restrictions which forbid multi-storey developments, and this will also push property prices up. It's an ideal place to buy an investment property geared toward boat and yacht owners.

Its sophisticated yet laid back lifestyle may suit older expats looking for a permanent home, but those with children may find these same attributes a turn off.

Gocek is expensive, so anyone seeking a holiday home should bear these extra costs in mind. However, it is very close to the airport, allowing for convenient weekend getaways.

Gocek is rather quiet in winter and the nearest major town is Fethiye, which acts as a hub for ex-pats living in surrounding areas.
