Istanbul's French Quarter is concentrated on one street: Fransiz Sokagi. The cobbled street is packed with cafes, bars, art galleries and musicians.
The street's authentic whiff of gay Paree belies the fact was completely renovated just a few short years ago. New stones were laid by Parisian architects, and one hundred-year-old lamps were imported from the French capital.
Fransiz Sokagi now sees around six and a half thousand visitors each day, who flock to see the area?s street concerts, relax in cafes and lap up the Bohemian French atmosphere.
Fransiz Sokagi is located behind the Lycee de Galatasaray, in the middle of Istiklal Street.
