Cesme guide for lifestyle, entertainment and attractions
A coastal town, Cesme is the centre of the Cesme district on the Cesme Peninsula. It is a popular holiday resort eighty-five kilometres from Izmir.
Cesme means 'fountain', undoubtedly due to the number of Ottoman fountains to be found all over the city.
This town is popular with Turkey's well-to-do, some of whom own summer houses here. In the last few years, Cesme has gained much popularity with tourists, and hotels, clubs, restaurants, hotels and marinas which have sprung up all over town.
There are a number of popular beaches with clean, clear waters. The weather is hot in the summer, but the cooling breeze keeps the heat from being oppressive. Sea life is abundant along the coastline and it won't be difficult to find good fish restaurants here.
