Yalikavak lies at the north west of the Bodrum Peninsula. It is 9miles from Bodrum and it has nearly 6800 inhabiants. At the crest of the hill near the windmills there is a breathtaking view of the whole area including Tilkicik, Pasa and Agaçbaba bays. The name Yalikavak means "poplar by the seaside".

Yalikavak is renowned with its sunsets, blue flag waters and green scenery.

The trees, however, are actually plane trees attesting to the fact that Yalikavak has a very good supply of fresh water. A lone windmill in good condition stands on the shore near the harbour where local fishing boats anchor alongside tourist yachts.

The village center is small and charming with cobbled walkways, many restaurants and cafes.
