Seventy-six Venetian style houses – three-storey buildings with easy access to the water through canals – are being built as part of the Port Alaçati project. The work will be carried out by the firm Alaçati Investments AS, aiming to create a holiday village by flooding the land with seawater.

Speaking to the Anatolia news agency, Alaçati Mayor and Alaçati Investments A.S Executive Board Chairman Muhittin Dalgiç said they had filled the land with seawater for the first time in Turkey and built a holiday village including houses like the ones in Venice.

Speaking to the Anatolia news agency, Alaçati Mayor and Alaçati Investments A.S Executive Board Chairman Muhittin Dalgiç said they had filled the land with seawater for the first time in
Turkey and built a holiday village including houses like the ones in Venice.

Dalgiç said the project commenced in 2005 on a 2,400 square meter area in the south of Alaçati with 25 houses completed in the first phase. He added that 76 houses, built in the second phase of the project, will open this summer.

France, hometown of the project:

Dalgiç said the Alaçati Port project was known as ‘Venice Houses' amongst the people of the province. He added that the hometown of the project was France and French architect François Spoerry had developed it.

Dalgiç said the municipality also had a
boutique hotel in Port Alaçati. “Urban administrations fill the sea for construction. We clean the sea by cleaning the land. Our aim is to create a prestigious region and enable those who prefer Port Alaçati to live by the sea,” Dalgiç said.

He added that 10 houses from the first phase had been sold to local and foreign customers and other houses were up for sale.
