More Flights to Antalya from European Cities

ANTALYA - The Mediterranean city of Antalya has received good news regarding the aviation sector. Turkish Airlines, or THY, will start direct flights from Antalya to three destinations in Europe, the Gazipasa Airport in Alanya welcomed its first flight and a foreign firm has started direct flights from Kuwait to Antalya.


Sururi Corabat?r, president of the Mediterranean Tourist Hoteliers and Operators Union, or AKTOB, has announced that THY will start direct flights from Paris, Dusseldorf and Stockholm to Antalya in November.

"The importance of the high-class tourists in France, Germany and Sweden to Antalya is indisputable," he said. "The new direct flights will create easy access to these markets."Corabat?r said Antalya is aiming for 12 months of tourism with its great potential for golf and conventions tourism, adding that the flights will help especially in these areas.

As THY starts new flights, Gazipasa Airport in Alanya welcomed its first civilian plane Friday. The private jet from Istanbul was welcomed by the local governor and the mayor. Mayor Cemburak Ozgenc presented a small statue to the pilots to mark the day.

Meanwhile, Jazeera Airways launched direct flights between Kuwait and Antalya, and the first flight arrived Thursday with 117 passengers.

"The launch of our low-fare flights to Antalya is excellent news for passengers across the Gulf region," Marwan Boodai, CEO of Jazeera Airlines saed in Antalya. Boodai added that the flights will be twice a week, but their target is to have at least four flights a week.
